A Harlem man is under arrest Monday after he was captured by surveillance cameras viciously abusing a baby pit bull in a building elevator, police said.
Irving Sanchez, 46, of 2370 1st Ave., faces charges of aggravated cruelty to animals for the alleged abuse. In surveillance footage a man can be seen entering the elevator with the puppy, whose name is Max, cowering behind him.
After the doors close, the man begins viciously punching, kicking and flinging the defenseless animal from one wall of the elevator to the other. He even pauses his assault to push elevator buttons during the ride, as if he wanted to prolong the beating and continue to a different floor.
Police arrested Sanchez Monday, a day after he allegedly brutalized the young dog.
'Max' was taken to a Manhattan ASPCA where he is reportedly in good physical condition.
